The oldest and most photographed bridge in Florence — a 14th-century stone span lined with jewelry shops that survived World War II intact when all other Florentine bridges were destroyed. The butchers who once occupied the shops were evicted by Ferdinando I in 1593 for their noise and smell, replaced by goldsmiths who remain to this day. The Vasari Corridor runs above the shops, a private Medici passage from the Uffizi to Palazzo Pitti.
